Helping You Recover after a Debilitating Injury

Woman with neck brack and firefighter in Denver

Neck pain is usually associated with bad posture or arthritis. But sometimes, the cause is more serious and sudden: a car crash, a bad fall, or being tackled on the field. Neck and back injuries produce pain and discomfort and can also restrict motion; some disappear with time, and others require medical intervention to eliminate symptoms.

If you are in the Denver area, and you suffered a neck or back injury because of someone else’s negligence, you are entitled to file a personal injury claim for compensation. Contact attorney J. Todd Tenge at (303) 502-5587 to schedule a free consultation. Mr. Tenge will draw on over 25 years of experience handling complex personal injury claims to make you whole again.

What Can Create Neck/Back Pain?

In our line of work, neck and back injuries are commonly caused by motor vehicle accidents, sporting activities, or falls (including workplace falls). Here are the major types:

  • Whiplash: The iconic soft-tissue injury, whiplash is a neck sprain or strain - that is, damage to the ligaments, tendons, or muscles in the neck. Whiplash is usually caused by a rapid back-and-forth or side-to-side motion of the head and neck, and may take 24 hours or more to appear.
  • Herniated discs and nerve impingement: A slipped disc, a bulging disc, a ruptured disc – all of these terms refer to the same injury to the “cushioning” discs located between each vertebrae. When the soft, inner “jelly” layer of the disc bulges out, pushing past the stronger outer layer, it is a herniated disc. Herniations can cause nerve impingement by pressing on the nerve root, which alters the way you can feel sensations, as well as causing numbness and tingling.
  • Vertebral fracture: Ranging from compression fractures (VCF) to burst fractures to fracture-dislocations, any broken bones in the spinal column will cause dangerous spinal instability. Victims often hunch forward due to the pain.
  • Spinal cord injury (SCI): Any “insult” or direct trauma that reaches the spinal cord can cause permanent changes in the body’s function. Severe SCIs can paralyze a victim; moderate SCIs can result in a loss of function, sensation, and control beneath the level of injury; even minor SCIs can cause ongoing pain and weakness below the affected area.

These injuries require medical treatment and rehabilitation to alleviate symptoms and allow victims to return to their normal lifestyles. Often, especially if a disc in the neck or back has been herniated, surgery may be required, and the injured person is likely to have permanent physical impairment.

Why Do I Need an Attorney After a Neck or Back Injury?

Treating a neck/back injury, whether it’s damage to the soft tissue, the bone, or the spinal cord, will cost a lot of money. J. Todd Tenge encourages individuals and families to seek compensation from the party who caused the injury whenever possible. For example, if your back was injured because someone ran a red light and T-boned your car, you should file a personal injury claim against that dangerous driver. You may recover compensation for medical bills, lost present or future wages, and even your pain and suffering.

Mr. Tenge and our legal team can review your case, help you file a claim, and represent you in the event that your case goes to trial – we have a great record. The Tenge Law Firm, LLC, is dedicated to pursuing justice on behalf of Denver injury victims, and will fight to get you the compensation you deserve.
