Essential Items for Your Car in Colorado

| Read Time: 2 minutes

From the moment we step foot into our first car, it seems like we spend so much of our lives going from one place to the next. With so much time spent in our cars, there are a few essential items that we should never be without. Our experienced Colorado personal injury law team would like to provide you with this list of essential items to carry in your vehicle, and we suggest you take this list and start stocking your car as soon as possible.

Must-Haves for Your Vehicle

First Aid Kit. Whether you sustain an injury unrelated to a car accident, it’s essential that you have this important item in your car. Most places sell pre-packaged kits with everything you need for minor issues, so it’s a good idea to stock up and make sure you always replace items as you use them.

Jumper Cables/Spare Tire. Dead batteries and flat tires are an inevitable part of driving, and they always fail at the most inconvenient times. Make sure you always have a replacement tire and jumper cables in your car and ready to go.

Flares. If you’re in an accident in the evening, or even if you break down, it’s difficult for oncoming traffic to see you if you lose power. Flare lights help give warning to oncoming drivers and keep you safe in the process.

Phone charger. We can’t stress this enough. It’s frustrating when your cell phone goes dead on a regular day, but if you’re in some type of accident or highway incident, you’re going to need your phone to call for help. We suggest keeping the phone on the charger when you’re driving, as to always ensure your battery is full of juice.

Water and Food. Survival experts note that water and energy bars in your car in the event you become lost or stranded are vital. Depending on the weather, you may want to stock the car with heating packs or an insulated blanket. Even the warmest states can get chilly during the evening hours.

Keeping a list of contact information, as well as your car manual, are also important items. If you’ve been injured in a car accident and sustained injuries as a result, contact us. We have offices in Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins.
